In a fight featuring two of the top young super featherweights in Southern California, Aalan Martinez stopped Ramon Valadez in the seventh round of a scheduled eight round bout. There were few exchanges in the first six rounds of the fight. Both looked to counter the other fighter. Valadez would score with occasional right hands, with Martinez attempting to gain rhythm during the middle rounds. In the seventh round, Martinez staggered Valadez with a left uppercut to the head. Martinez followed up with a barrage of punches until Valadez dropped to the canvas. Valadez beat the count, but referee David Mendoza waved the fight over at 1:09. Martinez, from East Los Angeles, CA, goes to 11-1-1, 6 KOs, while Valadez, from Ontario, drops to 11-2, 6 KOs. Entering the seventh round, judges had the fight scored 58-56, 58-56, and 59-55 in favor of Valadez.
