Floyd Mayweather vs. Saul Canelo Alvarez

Looking at the careers of Floyd Mayweather, Jr and Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, you’ll see one is nearing its end and one is just beginning. Maybe that is why odds makers have set this fight at nearly 2-1 with odds opening online and in Las Vegas anywhere from Mayweather at -250 to -333 while Alvarez is roughly +180.

Sept. 14th, 2013, MGM Grand – Las Vegas 5Dimes BetOnline Bookmaker Bovada Pinnacle Bet365 WillHill Ladbrokes
Saul Alvarez +240 +210 +240 +220 +223 +188 +240 +250
Floyd Mayweather Jr -280 -270 -290 -280 -251 -250 -333 -300

But then, there is a great divide between an old Cotto and a prime Guerrero. Did Miguel Cotto expose an old Floyd? Did Guerrero hide just how old Mayweather is? Can Saul “Canelo” Alvarez continue to show what Cotto did? Against a prime Austin Trout, a southpaw with a good defensive skills, Alvarez was up to the task:

Be it age, skills or desire, Mayweather vs. Alvarez is a close fight. The answers why will become clear on September 14, 2013 at the MGM Grand when Floyd “Money” Mayweather, Jr takes on Saul “Canelo” Alvarez:
