After he easily defeated Antonio DeMarco for the WBC lightweight belt this past weekend, Adrien “The Problem” Broner declared he would like to fight Scottish WBO lightweight titleholder Ricky Burns.
Not since March of last year, when Daniel Ponce De Leon gave Broner problems, has the Cincy fighter been challenged. DeMarco, thought to be his toughest test, was not competitive for more than one round.
Burns is a tough fighter. He has two early career decision losses but hasn’t lost since 2007. But can he beat Broner? Burns is a rugged guy who can box and brawl. At 5’10”, he will have size on Broner who stands 5’7″. Will that be enough? Can he match the speed and power of Broner? Not likely. With only 10 knockouts in 37 fights, its going to be about boxing for Burns.
Trying to box against Broner is, as they say, a problem.
What do you think, boxingheads? Burns vs. Broner? Who wins and how?
