Heavyweight legend turned promoter with his recently announced “Iron Mike Promotions,” Mike Tyson was on Friday Night Fights last week. Of course, he was asked about the fight everyone was watching “The One: Floyd “Money” Mayweather vs. Saul “Canelo’ Alvarez September 14 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, NV on Showtime pay-per-view.
“I think that’s going to be a super fight,” Tyson said to ESPN2. ” “It’s going to be an interesting fight, because I watch Canelo fight and he’s improving with every fight. I’m interested to see how he deals with the complexity of Floyd Mayweather, who’s a real strategist and a master fighter.”
Some are already predicting Mayweather-Alvarez to break PPV records. Tyson thinks other things will be broken, too.
“It’s gonna be tough, it’s gonna be tough,” Tyson said. “I gotta go towards Floyd a little bit. It’s gonna be tough, because we don’t know because Floyd is older. This guy is gonna hit him, but it’s just difficult to bet against Floyd if you’re really honest with yourself. It’s really difficult to bet against him because he’s been so superior over all of the fighters during the duration of his career.”
No one knows history like Iron Mike and based on his knowledge, he is picking Mayweather.
“First off, you have to admit that he’s the best of his time,” Tyson said of Mayweather. “The best of his generation. He beat everybody in three, seven divisions, regardless. I’m not familiar with how many, but he’s conquered a mountain of divisions. You have to rank him the best fighter of the generation, at least.”
Here is Tyson talking about how a fight between himself and Mayweather might have played out.
Mayweather is really good but he has pick most of he’s fighters, none of them are stronger than canelo so i believe that floyd will running all night, cause if he fights face to face he will be the ‘ONE’ to get nock out.
